The fraternity of Forensic Odontology in India pays sincere respects on the demise of its founder president and president of Indian Association of Forensic Odontology (IAFO), Professor J.G. Kannappan.
Professor J.G. Kannappan graduated from Madras Dental College and pursued his Masters in Dental Surgery in Orthodontia and Pedodontia from GS Nair Dental College, Mumbai.
He served as the Dean, Madras Dental College and Professor Emeritus, The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai.
He was the recipient of the Leverhulme Fellowship in the United Kingdom, innumerable awards from Indian Government, and honors from various literary, religious, philosophical, and community-based organizations. He has authored articles and books on dental health and education in many languages and in International Journals.
His contribution to ISDR (Indian Society for Dental Research) as one of the founder members and to its growth to the present status has been witnessed by many dental professionals.
He is associated with IAFO in India, right from its inception. He has nurtured this institution of Forensic Odontology and has proposed to medical universities to implement Forensic Odontology as a separate subject in BDS curriculum and as a master degree. The members of fraternity of Forensic Odontology of India salute this legend for his tireless efforts in associating this fraternity to serve the people and attain glory to the nation.
