The 7 th National conference of Indian Association of Forensic Odontology was held on 10 th and 11 th April 2010 in the premises of Lifeline Multi-speciality hospitals, Chennai-600098, Tamilnadu. Prof. Mayil Vahanan,Vicechancellor, The TN Dr. MGR Medical University inaugurated the conference and released the souvenir. Prof., Dr Chandrasekharan former director, forensic Science department, Tamilnadu, Prof Dr. J.G. Kannapan, President, IAFO, Prof.Dr. B. Sivapathasundharam, Editor-in-chief, JFDS Dr. Balagopal, secretary, IAFO and the patron Dr. J.S. Rajkumar were the accompanying on-stage dignitaries. This conference was patronized by Dr. J.S Raj kumar, chairman and MD, Lifeline Multi-speciality hospitals, Chennai. The TN Dr MGR Medical University and Tagore Dental College and hospital, Chennai-600048 co-sponsored the conference.

Prof. Dr. Chandra Sekharan delivered the guest lecture on medical and scientific forensics in Rajiv Gandhi assassination. Prof. Dr. J. G. Kannapan, delivered a lecture on autopsy of Head at the site of Rajiv Gandhi assassination . Implementation of the MDS course in Forensic odontology was stressed upon by Prof Dr. J. G. Kannapan. Dr. J. S Rajkumar's speech on the importance of dentistry in forensic field was spell bound. Prof. Dr. Balagopal, secretary, IAFO delivered the vote of thanks.

The scientific session was captivating with 72 oral presentations and 48 poster presentations.The presenters included UG, PG and faculty members from various dental colleges through out the country. The enthusiasm and the standard of the original research papers by the UG students was beyond the expectation and their growing interest in this upcoming field of dentistry is commendable.

The success of this conference is attributed to the relentless enthusiasm of the organising committee members - Prof Dr. J. G. Kannapan, organizing chairman, Prof. Dr. Balagopal, organizing secretary, Prof. Dr. B .Sivapathasundharam, chairman scientific committee, Prof C. V Subba Rao, chairman Reception committee, Dr. VidyaaHari Iyer, Treasurer and Dr. Sabarinath, souvenir editor.

The gesture of Dr. J.S Raj kumar, chairman and MD, Lifeline Multi-speciality hospitals, Chennai to patronize the conference was appreciated by the members and the effort of Dr. Sabarinath who was instrumental in bringing out the souvenir was praised,and the contribution of all the office bearers of the IAFO, Dr. Vidyaa Hari Iyer, staff and student volunteers and staff of the Lifeline Multi-speciality hospitals, Chennai was appreciated.
